Forbidden Fruit May Have Looked Like This

The fruit of the tree of learning the knowledge of good and evil, though often portrayed as an apple, was not an apple.

The etymology of the words tree and fruit seems to point to a sort of vine resembling a grape vine, and legend has it that its fragrance extended to a considerable distance.

The fruit of the forbidden tree was most likely a hallucinogen that caused an intense spiritual experience, during which the user would feel contact with a greater spiritual or cosmic order. This experience would be much like what users experience today with hallucinogens.
